We didn't show the beginning phases of teaching the REAR Hobble concept, but you should start with a soft rope, get them to give to the rope before EVER going to the hobble.. make it a process, NOT an Event!! We took a couple of days preparing this horse to take the hobbles .Not for the faint of heart... my advice is "Don't Try This at Home" without some one there to help coach you along...Hobble training should be done in phases in my opinion and by some one with some experience... It can go REAL Bad Real FAST in the wrong hands... This months Western Horseman has an article written by a woman who speaks of hobble training her horses and I was APPALLED!! She puts them on and pulls the halter off and let's them 'Figure it Out!" I am going to write WH to state my opinion... Even in the story she says the horse got scared and ran off with front hobbles on!! Could have stuck a hind foot through fallen and broke a leg!! Not good advice in my opinion...
